Diwali in Luton first event took place in 2018 and since then has and been attended by 10,000 people and supported by many partners including OM Group and Shree Sanatan Seva Samj (Luton Hindu Mandir). Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, is the most popular of all South Asian Celebrations and is celebrated by Jains and Sikhs as well as Hindus. The word Diwali comes from the Sanskrit word Deepavali, meaning rows of lighted lamps. The Festival lasts for five days and usually falls in October and November. Diwali is also a major cultural event for the Indian diaspora.

Partners of Diwali In Luton, Mr Raj Parmar, Chairperson of OM Group and Mr Kantilal Lad, President of Shree Sanatan Seva Samaj (Luton Hindu Mandir) said, “The essence of Diwali symbolises the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance and marks Ram’s defeat of the evil spirit Ravan, and his triumphant return home. To continue our traditions we welcome you to come and join us at Luton’s most popular Diwali festival.
